From 1996 through 2004 I was fortunate to have met, worked with, and worked for many talented sound and visual artists. What initially started as helping some friends with the releases of their music quickly evolved into organizing and co-owning a small independent record label.

As with any small business, my responsibilities spanned a wide array of tasks, including simpler ones such as general office operations, to the much trickier tasks of working with international promoters, reviewers, magazines, and distributors.

simballrec focused on the electronic pop, ambient, and experimental genres. We released 10+ works (mostly full-length CDs, but some vinyl as well), several of which were the first releases of Los Angeles based "Languis". As national and international interest increased, we released two compilations: "Starving But Happy!" and "45 Seconds of:". The "45 Seconds of:" compilation included works by DNTEL (Jimmy Tamborello of the Postal Service/Figurine), Mia Doi Todd, Simeon (Silver Apples), Martin Rev, Jan Jelinek, DJ Spooky, Noriko Tujiko, Daedalus, Jeremy Dower, Safety Scissors, Sutekh, O.S.T, Kim Cascone, Stars as Eyes, Phthalo, Ultra Milkmaids, and many more.

I attended Pasadena City College, and later the University of California, Irvine while running simballrec.
